Mornings with Mary: Kissing the Face of God

Imagine such an awesome kiss,
being pressed on the face of our Savior!
What was Mary thinking as she
kissed and cuddled this Babe in her arms?
Would fear have entered into her mind,
or was there only the sheer delight
in holding her Divine Child?
We know that she pondered
all that the angel Gabriel announced to her
because the Bible tells us that.
But, in this moment,
did she just give thanks that
Jesus had arrived intact
with no harm done on their long journey
to Bethlehem?
I hope that she was only giving thanks,
unaware of all the trials
she would suffer as the Mother of God.

Go here for how Weistling was inspired
to paint this exquisite art.

then join me in visiting
Rebecca's

  1. I am blown away by this man's art. Not his wife, not his daughter, but his. There is something very special there. Thanks for showing me.

  2. I imagine she felt what I felt when I held my babies...
an all-encompassing love, awe and the feeling of never
before being that close to God.

  3. This image reminds me of my firstborn, his cheeks looked like peaches, as Lisa says at that moment I felt in awe of the Creator, the magical work that had gone on within.
    Thanks for sharing this...x

  5. She's a beauty, Norma. Now that we are on the road, I can hardly keep track of the days let alone remember Mornings with Mary or Haiku My Heart. Strange how that turned out. At the moment, we are in Oklahoma. Leaving for Texas tomorrow. Then arriving in Missouri sometime on Sunday.
