Father's Day 2013

Happy Father's Day,
Dad!  May you be wrapped in the
arms of our Savior.

I took all three of these photos
 in the early 1960s.
I inserted the heart with an arrow
to signify my broken heart
because all three pictured here are gone.
At left is my younger brother Charlie, then Daddy 
and my Momma. 
This one photo was taken in my hubby's and my home.
The other two were taken in my parents' home.

Pictured with Daddy is Little Bit.
A warm memory I cherish
is of my Momma calling me
after my three babies (aged 1, 2 & 3)
were asleep.  She told me to bring
them over so that they could
witness Little Bit's babies being born.
So I wrapped them up,
and off we went! 

Here with Daddy
are his older  brother Elbert
and younger brother George.

Mornings with Mary: Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation

A friend from my parish allowed me to
use her photo of a church she visited
in Corey, Ohio.
It's the Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation.
I find this shrine breathtaking!
I admire Lisa for her talents;
she's an artist, singer, musician, teacher
and not least of all, a great Catholic wife and mother!

her husband called these violas.
I checked on Google, 
and it seems to be
the correct name.
Here is the site
that was the most helpful
to see the difference
between violas and pansies.
They both are members
of the viola species. 
Nothing like learning more,
even from one's mistake!

Grandsons' Birthday

The peonies came from
the twins' oldest sister's yard,
a lovely addition to the table.

I guess I was enjoying myself too much.
Thus, this is from Christmas, 2012.
It's not a great shot of me,
but my grandchildren are very photogenic.
 The twins are fraternal, as you
might infer.  The lovely ladies
are their older sisters.
What a joy to this grandmother.
